The Postgraduate Studies in Opera and Music-Theatre of the ESMAE, Porto, Portugal, appears as an important place in the national opera scene in Portugal, in the area of specialized training for opera in its various forms and styles, and its intrinsic relationship in the process of design, production and performance of OPERA. The School of Music and Performing Arts of Porto (ESMAE) is, in this sense, a paradigmatic school once it embraces physically in the same unit the various areas of music education, theater, opera, film and multimedia, and so, appears as a privileged space for the foundation of an Opera Studio, in Portugal.

Since its foundation in March 2013 the Opera Studio of ESMAE presented several operas, such as: L’Enfant et les Sortilèges by Maurice Ravel in THSC (15, 16 and 17 March, staged by António Durães), The Fairy Queen by Henry Purcell (24, 25 and 26 May, staged by Mrs Erlingsdotter), Dialogues des Carmelites by Francis Poulenc, (17, 18, 19 and 20 June, staged by João Henriques) and The Magic Flute by W. A. Mozart (27 and 28 July staged in Porto by Peter Konwitschny).*
