Gerd Uecker (pianist, music pedagogue, Intendant of Semperoper Dresden from 2003-2010) studied piano, musical pedagogics and conducting; since 1969 music coach at the opera house Cologne; since 1979 director of the musical department, since 1982 head of the office of the general director, since 1988 artistic director and representative of the general director and since 1993 opera director of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich; 2003-2010 general director of the Semperoper, “Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden“; since 2007 Chairman of the board of the academy of the “Musikhochschule Lübeck”; 2010 awarding of the “Dänisches Ritterkreuz des Danneborgordens”; 2011 honorary president of the “Bundeswettbewerb Gesang” in Berlin
