TRAINING
Theaterakademie August Everding
with Gerd Uecker
18 - 21 April 2017
Theaterakademie August Everding
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his “revolutionary” œuvre Così fan tutte.
What does contemporary exactly mean? Does contemporary mean modern? This today’s often used expression is the focus of two 4-days workshops.
Why and how exactly was Mozart ‘modern’? The first part of the workshop focuses on the question why Mozart has been modern in his time period.
The participants will work on the score of Mozarts revolutionary œuvre Così fan tutte. Different arias will be examined to search for criterions defining ‘contemporary’. There will be a lecture for all participants each day and practical exercises and musical coachings (in groups and individually). At the end of the workshop there will be a public performance with regards to the content of the workshop programme.
The workshop with its both parts can help young artists, especially singers, to develop a much more general understanding for the meaning of contemporary.
The second part of the workshop – lead by the singer Topi Lehtipuu – will focus on the subject the other way round: What is classical in contemporary music? This second workshop takes place in July 2017, details will be announced in January 2017.
